Son Lux (NYC’s Ryan Lott) has done it again. We Are Rising, the follow-up to his amazing 2008 Anticon release At War With Walls and Mazes was recorded from start to finish in the 28 days of February 2011. Ryan had been approached by NPR’s All Songs Considered to participate in their annual RPM Challenge, which would require him to set such an insane time constraint on himself, something he was not used to doing. The result is an extremely impressive 9-song record that is just as good, if not better than his last full length, which he constructed over the course of 3 years. Guests on the record include My Brightest Diamond, the yMusic Sextet (Antony, Sufjan, the National), and others. There’s a great mini-documentary on The Made Shop‘s creation of the album artwork right here. The album is out today, again via Anticon, and can be purchased right here
