Peter Gabriel – “Intruder”

One of my favorite Peter Gabriel songs.  Taken from his third self-titled record (released in 1980, and sometimes referred to as Melt).  “Intruder” is a song about a burglar who seems to enjoy breaking into people’s homes just for the sake of doing it.  The song features the “gated drum” sound that was created by Phil Collins (who plays drums here).  This sound appears throughout many songs on the album.  Gabriel had asked Collins to not use any cymbals during the sessions for this album, which created a very unique percussive approach.
