There are a million 8-bit/chiptune tributes, covers, etc out there these days, especially now that apps like Nanoloop are now readily available on the iPhone and what not. To be honest, with the exception of Crashfaster and some others, I don't tend to pay too much attention, but there's something about this new 8-bit version from Inverse Phase of NIN's Pretty Hate Machine (dubbed Pretty Eight Machine here) that got my attention. I'm still not sure what it is, but give it a listen. It's great.

I have been LOVING this song lately. Tobacco (of Black Moth Super Rainbow) can really do no wrong when he's doing remixes. (Check the aweome Restiform Bodies remix he did here). Here, he remixes HEALTH's "Die Slow" from their awesome new record Get Color. These guys put on a really intense live show, and they're on tour right now (with awesome opener Pictureplane), so go see them if you get the chance. They also just performed a Gang of Four cover live on stage with Nine Inch Nails, Gary Numan and Eric Avery (Jane's Addiction). You don't get much cooler than that.
From 2007's Smoke, released by Kid606's label Tigerbeat6. White Williams (Joe Williams) has done shows with Nine Inch Nails, Girl Talk, Lightning Bolt and The Rapture. Mostly poppy, sometimes on the more experimental side (fitting in nicely with the Tigerbeat6 roster). Sometimes even reminiscent of the still-active weirdo pop group Sparks.
