Plastic Bertrand - "Tout Petit La Planete" by Matt Bomarr

Belgium's Plastic Bertrand is probably best known for this song, which you've most likely heard, but never knew who it was. While I love that song, "Tout Petit la Planete"  (released in 1978) is the one that really stands out to me. Sort of Italo-disco-y, with touches of vocoder. Not all of his recordings were great, but when he was on, he was on. buy

Gay Cat Park - "I'm A Vocoder" by Matt Bomarr

gay cat park - "i'm a vocoder" (download) [audio]

Italo disco classic from 1982 about what it's like to be a vocoder. Even the reissues of this 12" are hard to find. According to this Facebook page that has recently popped up, there might be more great Gay Cat Park songs released from the vaults eventually. For now, this will have to do.

La Bionda - "I Wanna Be Your Lover" by Matt Bomarr

Brothers Carmelo and Michaelangelo La Bionda are well known Italo Disco producers in Italy, but not so well known outside their home country. This record (also titled I Wanna Be Your Lover) was released in 1980. They've also done work as DD Sound (DD meaning Disco Delivery), although I have yet to hear any of their music under that name. Check out this awesome video from an Italian TV show in 1981 right here

Easy Going - "Do It Again" by Matt Bomarr

I've been on a bit of an Italo Disco kick lately. While this song might not be for everyone, I think it's incredibly funky and extremely catchy. I'm not really sure what's going on on the album cover...maybe some nude wrestling, perhaps? Easy Going had some hits in the 70's but haven't really been heard from since, aside from select disco compilations. This is quite possibly the longest song I've posted on the blog as well, clocking in at just under 8 minutes.

Scotch - "Disco Band" by Matt Bomarr

Sort of a guilty pleasure. Some of you may hate this song, but I think it's really catchy and there's a synth line in here that really gets me. Scotch was an Italo-Disco group in the 80's (which you can probably tell when you hear the song). It's kind of hard to find a whole lot of information about them. Give this song a try or two. There's an entertaining video for the song here
